A law professor published an article in the May-June edition of Harvard Magazine expressing her views that it is ‘dangerous’ for parents to homeschool their children. Dangerous? Yes, that is the word she used.
Apparently, Elizabeth Bartholet, who is also a faculty director of the Harvard Child Advocacy Program worries about parents that have ‘authoritarian control’ over their children 24/7. Well, as we know, Hillary Clinton did tell us it takes a ‘village’ to raise a child. The Left has always thought the State is better at raising children than parents are. Seems those silly parents just are not smart enough to raise their children.
But this has gone to a new level implying that parents are actually likely to ‘abuse’ their children if they are at home being schooled.
“The issue is, do we think that parents should have 24/7, essentially authoritarian control over their children from ages zero to 18?” Bartholet asked. “I think that’s dangerous. I think it’s always dangerous to put powerful people in charge of the powerless, and to give the powerful ones total authority.”
Here we go! Parents be prepared for the government to intercede in your home schooling efforts!
“I think an overwhelming majority of legislators and American people, if they looked at the situation, would conclude that something ought to be done,” Bartholet said.
